Traveling
times
This includes an hour of driving on the ranch road to reach the Pecos River. Don't worry, two-wheel drive is all that's needed for this road. But be sure to have a full-size spare tire; doughnut spares are insufficient for the ranch roads! Please be aware that this is a remote primitive setting. Reliable amenities and medical facilities are 2 hours away in Del Rio. You will need to bring your own food & water for your entire length of stay. (Click here for details) It is also necessary to bring your own recreational equipment. We invite you to come enjoy your favorite outdoor sports and relax in a setting that is both splendorous and peaceful.
In case your thinking that going through San Antonio via I-35 then 90 to Del Rio is the way to go, I'm here to dispel that. This route is a tad longer but you will save much unneeded stress by going this mellow and quiet way: 290 West toward Fredricksburg, stay on 290 to Harper. 2.5-3 miles past Harper turn left (south) on 479 for about 8 miles to I-10. Take I-10 West for 1 mile, exit to 41 West on 41 (only way you can go), follow it's entire length to it's end at 377. Left on 377 South (SW on a compass) through Rock Springs. 50 miles west of Rock Springs joins 277, turn left to Del Rio. This section is often a speed trap-Go Speed Limit here! Intersect with 90 just north of the business strip of Del Rio (Chevron Gas at intersection). (You are now on the "Directions" file supplied to the ranch). Turn right on 90 West to Comstock (just before Comstock is a Border Patrol Checkpoint). If Border Patrol Checkpoint is of concern to you, there is an alternate route via Sonora and I-10. From there take 277 South for about 16-18 miles to Highway 189 that takes you to 163. Left (south) on 163 to Comstock, right (west) for 1 mile to 1024. Happy motoring, and may you have a tail wind!
